You've seen the front page of the website with the Player's Invitational Pot and you're probably asking, "What is The Players Invitational?"
In a nutshell it is West Coast Golf Club's version of what the PGA calls the Tour Championship that's held at the end of the year. The Tour Championship has a very select field where only the top 30 money winners are invited and they play for some serious money. In an effort to give our members a Tour Championship feel, we have adopted such a tournament. At West Coast Golf Club we call it the Players Invitational.
Up for grabs will be one of the largest purses of the year. The Player's Invitational Pot on the front page is what the prize package would be if the tournament were held today. However, that number will be growing as we add $1 from every player that signs up and plays in a tournament from now until the Players Invitational held in November. We estimate that there will be another $500 meaning that the estimated pot will be in the range of $1,200. But that's not the only prize that players will be gunning for as the usual Hole In One and Gross Eagle prizes will also be available.
So just who will be able to play in this prestigious event? Only the top 30 point earners at the end the year will be invited. And how do you earn these precious points? You play in WCGC events and earn points by being in the top 3 of your flight and if you accumulate enough points you're in!!
Wouldn't it be great to battle for a first place prize in the neighborhood of $300? (Actual prize structure will be determined at a later date) You can, as long as you qualify. So start today, sign up for those upcoming tournaments and we will see you on the links!
